Father’s Day Whiskies

Good whiskies, like good fathers, should not be forgotten on special days. Father’s Day is the perfect time to remember both and show them that you appreciate them.

We have been busy over the past fortnight packing whiskies up with gift messages for Dads from appreciative offspring. Hopefully many Dads will be enjoying their Father’s Day whiskies with their children; as long as the “children” are of legal drinking age!

Our biggest seller for Father’s Day was “The Wolf of Badenoch” – by some margin. This newly launched 12 year old single malt whisky has been quickly noticed up by our customers and being priced very reasonably from our website, it isn’t a piggy bank breaker for most people buying their fathers an appreciative gift.

Probably the next best seller was the whisky produced by Mackinlay’s to mark and celebrate the journey of Shackleton to the South Pole in the early part of the twentieth century. With that expression, we gave away a free “Shackleton’s Whisky” book worth £16.99 with every bottle purchased. There will be some happy Dads with that whisky and book of adventure this Father’s Day, we’re sure.

Closely following these two as the whisky of choice for happy fathers were various expressions from Islay; whiskies from all the distilleries we support were brisk out the door over the past fortnight.

It was great to see many of our “Whisky Please Vouchers” purchased by undecided offspring for their fathers to choose a whisky they like. That takes the decision making process away from the gift giver, which is great if your father is either difficult to buy for or else your knowledge of your father’s favoured whiskies might not be on the button.

We were happy to have nine whiskies we sell featured on the “Scotland Now” website as suggested presents for Father’s Day. The whiskies were reviewed by Blair Bowman in a concise and informative way. If you don’t know of Blair, he is the chap who created “World Whisky Day“. Thanks to Blair for those whisky reviews.
