Ardbeg Whisky

Ardbeg Whisky, derived from the Gaelic: "Ard Beag" meaning Little Height, has been producing Ardbeg Whisky since 1798. By 1886 the Ardbeg Whisky Distillery produced 300,000 gallons of pure alcohol per year and employed 60 workers. Production stopped in 1981, but resumed on a limited basis in 1989, continuing at a low level until late 1996, the period when Ardbeg Whisky was owned by Hiram Walker. It was bought and reopened by Glenmorangie with production resuming in June 1997 and full production starting in 1998. Ardbeg has been called “as close to perfection as makes no difference,” by whisky connoisseurs. Proof then, that Ardbeg truly deserves its incredible reputation.
