Tomintoul 1973 45 Year Old Single Malt Whisky
70cl, 44.5% abv
Tomintoul 1973 45 Year Old Single Malt Whisky is a double wood matured single malt whisky.
This single malt has been selected not only because of its rarity of age, but very significantly, beacause it is the result of a careful "finishing" process by which the whisky began by resting for more than three decades of ageing in the finest white oak American casks before being transferred into a hogshead cask originally used to mature Oloroso Sherry in Spain. Finally, after a generous period of time in Sherry wood it was deemed that the time was right to make it available to lovers of excellent whisky. There were only 218 bottles produced from the Sherry wood hogshead. It is presented in an elegant decanter style bottle and sits in a deluxe, glossy ebony-black wooden box lined with velvet.
Colour: Deep amber.
Nose: Clean Sherry influence on a sweet malty layer. Intense waxy aromas merge with hints of orange citrus and Christmas pudding.
Palate: Dry and spicy with a rich and enduring finalé.
