Ardbeg 10 Year Old Single Malt Whisky

Ardbeg 10 Year Old Single Malt Whisky is hailed around the world as one of the peatiest, smokiest, most complex of single malts. And yet it does not flaunt the peat; rather it gives way to the natural sweetness of the malt to produce a whisky of terrific balance. It is usual for most whiskies to be chill-filtered and reduced to a strength of 40% ABV. Ardbeg 10 year old, however, is non chill-filtered and has a strength of 46% ABV and therefore retains maximum flavour. It shows considerable body with added depth.

Colour: Deep gold.
Nose: Intense smoky fruit leads the nose. Then peat laced with lemon zest and lime, cosseted in warm dark chocolate.
Palate: A burst of crackling peat sets off a multitude of flavour explosions on the tongue. Peat effervesces with lemon and lime juice, cracked black pepper sides with cinnamon toffee.
Finish: Long and predictably smoky with aniseed and toasted almonds. Then, traces of soft barley and fresh pear appear.
