Dalwhinnie WhiskyDalwhinnie Whisky Distillery was originally founded with the name of the nearby town, Strathspey, in the late 1890s. The site was chosen for its access to clear spring water from Lochan-Doire-Uaine and the abundance of local peat. Set in splendid mountain scenery at the heart of the Cairngorm National Park, Dalwhinnie Whisky Distillery is the highest whisky distillery in Scotland at 1164 feet above sea level. The name Dalwhinnie is derived from the Gaelic word dail-coinneeamh, meaning "meeting place", referring to the converging of ancient cattle drover routes through the mountains. Dalwhinnie Distillery is home to a famous Highland Single Malt Whisky renowned for its gentle flavours accentuated with notes of heather honey, citrus, vanilla and sweet malt. The Dalwhinnie Distillery tour really is one of the best and as such, it was awarded "The Best Distillery Tour 2017" by Drinks International.
