Ardbeg Auriverdes

We were over the moon to be approached recently to be one of the very few retailers of Ardbeg’s fine new expression; Ardbeg Auriverdes.

The name comes from “Auri” noting the lovely gold colour of the whisky and “Verde” which refers to the beautiful green bottle containing the whisky. The term “auriverdes” is used to refer to Brazilian sporting teams in recognition of their team colours; gold and green.

This whisky has been produced by Ardbeg to celebrate the 2014 Football World Cup which, of course, is being held in Brazil at the moment.

The dram is rumoured to be a bit of a hot head on account of its toasted cask lids. The Ardbeg team is renowned for its technical expertise and Auriverdes is a winning example of this, with the toasted lids producing a mocha coffee flavour at one end, flowing into creamy vanilla at the other – it is truly a dram of two halves.

ardbeg auriverdesArdbeg have worked hard at creating their “Ardbeg Day” which is now celebrated all round the world. This year, Ardbeg Day was on the 31st May and it was then that Ardbeg Auriverdes was released to the world. We managed to get our allocation today (20th June) and it was all sold within an hour of going up on our website.  It looks like the public have embraced Ardbeg Day yet again and latched onto this fine expression.

We don’t know when we will be getting more stock of Ardbeg Auriverdes in, but if you’re interested in getting your hands on a bottle (and it’s only one bottle per customer!), please drop us an e-mail with your details and we’ll get in touch with you when we get more.

In the meantime, we’ll have to watch the World Cup without a dram of Ardbeg Auriverdes, as our “own” bottle was sold to a customer today!
