Whisky Tweet Tasting

We were happy this week to be contacted by Steve Rush, the man behind two great, informative whisky websites; The Whisky Wire and The Whisky Business. Steve has asked us to take part in a forthcoming whisky tweet tasting. For those of you that may not know what a whisky tweet tasting is, read on…..!

Steve distributes some “top secret” samples of whisky expressions a week or so before the whisky tweet tasting date to a number of whisky “worthies”. On the agreed date and time, the worthies start to sample the expressions in a set order and tweet their thoughts on each expression live on Twitter using the appropriate hashtag. Whisky tweet tastings are great fun either to participate in or to follow by the use of the relevant hashtag. Interaction is instant, educational, sometimes hugely subjective, but always passionate.

In the past, Steve has organised whisky tweet tastings for most of the major distilleries and has, to date, created and managed over 50 of such whisky tweet tastings. If you haven’t ridden shotgun on one of these nights, we suggest you try it next time.

whisky tweet tastingThese whisky tweet tastings have become so popular that every one of the last 25 whisky tweet tastings has trended within the top ten on Twitter in the UK on the nights they are held. Some eighteen of these whisky tweet tastings have been in the top five trends and four whisky tweet tastings have lorded the top spot of #1 on Twitter UK – power to Steve’s elbow.

If you are free on the night of the next whisky tweet tasting (visit The Whisky Wire for details of forthcoming whisky tweet tastings), you could do a lot worse than getting in front of your favoured internet device, dram in hand and sip along to the tweets from those of us fortunate enough to be sampling the wares from another great distillery that Steve has joined forces with. You may even be fortunate enough to be picked to take part in a whisky tweet tasting – details on The Whisky Wire site.

At this stage we do know the distillery in question, but are not permitted to tell anyone! Trust us though; this is a gem of a distillery and one that has “links” to a Scottish invention, much revered around the world.
