Glen Grant WhiskyGlen Grant Whisky Distillery was founded in 1840 by brothers John and James Grant. With the sea and port of Garmouth nearby, the River Spey at its feet and barley-growing fields close by, the Glen Grant Whisky Distillery had all the basic ingredients of single malt whisky to hand. Glen Grant was the first single malt whisky distillery to benefit from electric light. Unlike some heavier and more robust Single Malts, Glen Grant is crisp, clear, fresh and light. What really distinguishes it from other malts is the unique distillation process. As a first step they use incredibly tall stills, which help ensure only the lightest spirit becomes Glen Grant. Secondly they are the only distillery to use purifiers in both of their distillations. This was an invention of James “The Major” Grant which they still use to this day. This ensures only purest vapour is allowed to pass from the still to the condenser, and therefore creates a fresh, and light whisky.
